Talks for Marine Park Volunteers (Series 1)

The first series of the talks for Marine Park volunteers concluded with over 50 participants last week.

We started off with an introduction of the Marine Park by Koh Kwan Siong, Biodiversity Manager, National Biodiversity Centre, National Parks Board.

Next, we learnt about the Heritage of the Southern Islands by Marcus Ng, co-curator of 'Balik Pulau Stories from Singapore's Islands' and

by Juria Toramae, creator of 'Point of Departure', visual narratives of coastal and island life in Singapore.

After which, we had a very informative session on the Coral reefs of Singapore by Dr Karenne Tun, Deputy Director, Coastal and Marine, National Biodiversity Centre, National Parks Board.

We ended off the whole session with a lively Q&A and the hands-on session, which was well-received by the participants.

Special thanks to those who came for the talk and to all the speakers and facilitators we came to help!
